First United Methodist Church Historic Rehabilitation
Design-Build | Walton Construction
Gonzalez Goodale Architects has a long history of work with sensitive, historically-significant projects. The setting for this project is a 1920's church looking to adapt their facilities to modern needs by developing a revenue source which would bolster the church’s continued service mission. With portions of the complex potentially eligible for historic status and looming environmental impact issues, we were called on for an initial programming and conceptual design phase to help the client understand the pitfalls and potentials of their existing resources.
Working closely with Walton Construction in this discovery phase, the design build team was able to fuse our expertise in entitlement and design with Walton's experience on up-to-date pricing for renovation and rehabilitation. With guidelines of agency, constructability, and cost now in place, a set of options has been developed to help the client balance their decisions before moving on to the next phase of design and implementation.
